The Power and Potential of Youth Ministry

I was reminded again today of how important it is that we pray for the development of a vibrant ministry to our young people at Everett Springs. We are blessed by our Sunday School teachers who prepare and present the Word of God to our students in a way they can understand and apply the truth they are learning. I am grateful for those who teach each week. I am also burdened that we expand our outreach to our students and the students in our community.

This morning I was reading the "Deacon Magazine" that is available for our Deacons. In the current issue, there is a Q&A with Pastor Bruce Grubbs from Mt. Juliet, TN. He is asked: Where do you see the most critical need for Christian Leadership in the community? His answer is one that resonates with me and should remind each of us to pray for God to enable us to expand our ministry to young people.

Pastor Grubbs said: "One of the most vital areas for Christian leadership to be involved in the community is with those things which touch children and young people. This is not only about loving and serving them in Christ's name, but it is the central connection or contact point with adults. Each child has a mom or dad, maybe more than one. Each has grandparents (two or more sets). Each child has an extended family and friends network. Through a single child, a church can touch dozens of people and multiple generations."

For the good of our church and the glory of God we must be focused on strengthening and expanding our outreach to young people. Will you continue with me in prayer about this vital ministry?

Pastor Mike
