Preparing Two Meals

This article was published at 5:30AM this morning. That is also the same time I headed out the door to go prepare brunch for 160 ladies at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church. I have been assisting with their brunch for 6 or 7 years now. I always enjoying planning for the event and partnering with the ladies and men of their church for this special day. I have a new recipe for an egg, ham and cheese bake that I believe will be delicious. The blueberry cheese danish I have prepared in the past has been requested once again. Hashbrowns, grits, bacon, fruit, bread and juices will round out the menu - I am getting hungry just writing about it.

When I am done with the brunch I will get home between 1:00 and 2:00pm. It will then be time to prepare a second meal. I won't be in the kitchen but at the keyboard. The second meal I will be preparing is the one we will all partake of on Sunday at 11:00am. No we will not be eating eggs, grits, and bacon this Sunday at church - we will be feasting on the Word.

I have been gathering the ingredients all week. Researching, reading, studying, writing notes and praying is part of my week; every week, as I seek to prepare a "Spiritual Meal" that will help us all to grow stronger in our faith and enable us to be active in our ministry.

We will continue our "Thank You" series this Sunday as we focus on the topic: "Thank You for the Scripture" God's Word is vital to our faith and fitness as believers. As we feed on His Word we grow; to neglect the Word we will become spiritually anemic and vulnerable to the "ills" of this world.

So I will be putting the finishing touches on Sunday's message this afternoon. I also will be praying that you will make it a priority to be in attendance at Church tomorrow. The invitation is for you to "Come and dine" and as we feast on the Word we will be better for it.

Preparing a Feast for you,
Pastor Mike
