Ultimately the purging of the Church will make a stronger and more vibrant church in the coming years. We need that! Our nation needs a strong Church. The lost need the witness that a strong church gives to the world. Missionaries need the prayer and financial support that comes from a strong, healthy, vibrant church. May the "falling away" and purging that we see not discourage us but may it lead us to stronger, healthier, more vibrant churches.
Now, take a moment to read Thom's article. You can find it HERE.
Here is the beginning of his article:
My five-year old grandson asked me how old I was. When I told him I would turn 60 in a few weeks, he responded: “I didn’t realize people got that old."
Indeed, in 60 years, like any of us who have lived a few years, I have seen change, lots of change. And I am seeing change in local congregations faster than any time in my lifetime.
One of the most disheartening changes I am seeing is the declining attendance in a majority of churches. I am asked repeatedly to diagnose and help with these challenges.
Though addressing the issue of declining attendance cannot be covered in a brief blog post, I hope it will be helpful to share some high-level perspectives. See if any of these seven reasons apply to your church.Read the rest of the article HERE.
I trust that Thom's article will challenge us to be active and faithful members in our local church.
If the article prompts a good thought or idea on how we can be a dynamic and developing church please share your thoughts and ideas with me. You can call, e-mail or talk to me the next time you see me.
